Research on smart home appliance gateway based on blockchain

Abstract: With the development of the Internet and sensors, the smart home appliances of the Internet of Things have also been popularized, to achieve efficient management and intelligent perception of home appliances. In whole-house smart home appliances, devices are connected to each other centered on a gateway. Therefore, smart home appliance gateway is very important, but its centralized structure has multiple security vulnerabilities, such as integrity, authentication and availability. In order to solve these problems, propose a blockchain based gateway architecture design to deal with possible attacks on smart home gateways. The overall network architecture consists of three layers, the device layer, the gateway layer, and the cloud layer. Blockchain technology is applied at the gateway layer. The data is stored and exchanged in the form of blocks, realizing a decentralized architecture. Blockchain ensures the integrity of internal and external data of smart appliances, and provides availability through authentication and efficient communication between network members. Implementing the smart home appliance gateway architecture based on the technology of the Ethereum blockchain, and evaluates its response performance, including security response time and accuracy. From the evaluation results, the solution proposed is superior to the existing solution.
