Abstract: The heat leakage through gasket accounts for 15% of the total heat leakage of refrigerator. Its sealing and thermal insulation properties have a large influence on refrigeration effect and energy consumption of a refrigerator. Development trend, heat and mass transfer, material formulation and structure optimization are discussed in this paper, which is expected to provide guideline for researchers in the field of gasket. According to the literatures, the CFD technology and Reverse Heat Loss Method (RHLM) are often used to evaluate heat leakage of gasket, while mass transfer load mostly adopt tracer gas technology and collection of condensate. Material formulation is the key factor to determine the migration resistance and mechanical properties. In order to improve the sealing and thermal insulation properties, gasket is gradually optimized from a straight structure to a complex multi-edges and multi-air cells structure adapted to the characteristics of different application.
