Abstract: As a new porous material with high heat conductivity, metal foam owns unique advantages in heat exchanging enhancement. The heat transfer and flow characteristics in gas-liquid two-phase refrigerants are different from those of single phase working fluid. Considering various refrigerants, the heat transfer and flow performances of metal foam in refrigeration and air conditioning systems were analyzed including single pipe, heat exchanger and phase-change energy storage. The further study suggestions were also proposed, which are important to the energy efficiency improvement of systems and charging quality reduction of refrigerants.
