Research on riveting technology of air conditioning chassis

Abstract: The chassis components for air conditioning are composed of chassis and footing. The connection and processing methods include spot welding, tox riveting and rivet connection. However, spot welding and tox processing methods will have hidden danger of desoldering and riveting, and riveting process can directly see the riveting effect, and there is no hidden danger of missing riveting and riveting. Now, two kinds of riveting technology, swing roller riveting and hot riveting, are deeply studied. The tensile strength and shear strength of the samples after riveting were tested. The difference of shear strength between the two was not significant, while the tensile strength of hot riveting was significantly better than that of rotary riveting. Through the metallographic (OM) analysis of the two rivets, it is found that there is no phase transformation in the microstructure of the rotary riveting, while the transformation of ferrite to sorbite occurs in the microstructure of hot riveting rivets, and the mechanical properties are improved. In addition, this paper also discusses that swing roller riveting will cause uneven height of rivet head and even head of hot riveting, which will have a certain impact on tensile strength.
