Abstract: Impeller is the key component of the double-inlet centrifugal fan which is widely used in range hoods. Recently, research on the impeller mainly focuses on parameters such as the inlet and outlet angles of the blades, outer diameter and thickness. There are relatively few research content focused on the influence of air intake method on performance of fans. In order to study the effect of air intake method on the performance of range hoods, simulation and experimental studies were conducted on two types of fans with mixed and separate air intake method. The study results show that mixed intake method increases pressure fluctuations and airflow disturbances in the fan and causes unstable flow. Separate intake method has lower noise and higher maximum static pressure. This study provides reference for future research and development of double-inlet centrifugal fans.
