Abstract: In order to study the effect of outdoor unit panel thickness on NVH performance of air conditioner, a finite element analysis model was established for outdoor unit panel of a certain type of air conditioner. Firstly, the static analysis of the panel before and after thinning was carried out, and the stress nephogram and strain nephogram of the panel under the same compressive stress was obtained. Secondly, the pre-stressed modal analysis was carried out to get the effect of the thinning of the panel on the natural frequency and the vibration modes. Then the dynamic excitation was applied for harmonic response analysis, and the amplitude frequency characteristic curve of the panel under dynamic response excitation was obtained. Finally, the frequency domain response results obtained from harmonic response analysis were used as boundary conditions for acoustic boundary element analysis, and the noise distribution nephogram and frequency response curves of the front and rear panels were obtained. The results show that the radiation noise of the panel after thinning is generally common with that before thinning, but the noise at the resonance point near 380 Hz is significantly improved, which provides a basis for the feasibility of thinned outdoor unit panel.
