Abstract: With the rapid development of the Internet of Things (IoT) and the smart home market, cross-ecosystem interaction has emerged as an urgent issue to be addressed in home appliance products. The devices and ecosystems in the smart home market are fragmented, and various barriers exist between ecosystems, hindering interconnectivity and interoperability. Users face numerous challenges in building a whole-house smart system and the need to download different ecological apps for devices of different brands leads to a poor user experience. To address this, the Matter protocol was introduced. A cross-ecosystem interactive air conditioner based on the Matter protocol was designed. Through interpreting the protocol, sorting out the certification process, developing hardware and software, and testing and verifying Matter's functions and performance. The final experiment shows that the Matter protocol holds significant advantages in cross-ecosystem interactions. The designed Matter protocol-based air conditioner truly realizes interconnectivity and communication between ecosystems, greatly improving the user experience, and providing an efficient and stable solution for the smart home industry. This research provides valuable references for further improvement and popularization of smart home product designs based on the Matter protocol, with minor text modifications.
