Abstract: In recent years, with the continuous improvement of the living standard of the people in China and the impact of public health events, consumers have shown a higher demand for cleaning and caring for garments as well as for the health functions of household washing machines. The latest GB/T 21551.5, "Antimicrobial and cleaning function of household and similar electrical appliances-Part 5: Particular requirements for electric washing machine", has been revised and issued based on this background, addressing the upgrading of market demands and driving the high-quality development of the washing machine industry. The article describes the differences and connections between the new standard GB/T 21551.5—2024 and the old standard GB 21551.5—2010 that it replaces. It introduces the background of the standard revision, sorting out the new content and changes to the tests involved, and focuses on analyzing the main technical differences to provide a reference for practitioners.
