Abstract: Formaldehyde (HCHO), one of the main indoor pollutants, has been listed as carcinogenic and teratogenic substances by the World Health Organization, which poses a serious threat on human health. The catalytic technologies for HCHO removal at room temperature can fully degrade HCHO into CO2 and H2O without additional energy, which is suitable for HCHO removal in home environment. Because of its variable valence state, abundant resources, low price and excellent catalytic performance, manganese oxide is often used in the study of catalytic degradation of HCHO. In this paper, δ-MnO2 catalyst was synthesized by REDOX precipitation method, and its catalytic activity and mechanism of HCHO degradation were discussed. Finally, it was applied in air conditioning products to achieve the purification of HCHO in room.
